EDITORIAL EVALUATION WORLD POLL TAKEN NEW YORK, Dec. 4. A poll taken by the United Press of editors throughout the world shows that they rate the three biggest news stories of 1946 so far as: 1. The Nuremberg verdicts. 2. The Bikini atomic bomb tests. 3. The Republican Congressional victory. The Australian ranking list of the best 10 stories was: Nuremberg, Bikini, Bernborough’s break-down, Palestine violence, the Heath murder trial, the Yoisuki voyage, the Republican victory, Indian self-governmept, the Canadian spy ring, and Mr Hugh Baillie's interview with Generalissimo Stalin. Other nations placed the first three stories as follows:—The United States —the Republican victory, Nuremberg and the removal of most of the price controls. European countries—Nuremberg, Mr Baillie’s interview, Bikini. South America—Nuremberg, the Republican victory, • Bikini. Japan—Bikini, Nuremberg, and the Republican victory. The Philippines—Nuremberg, Philippines independence and the Republican victory.
