THE FRANCO REGIME
Sir,—At the moment Opinion In the U.N.O. is divided between three alternatives of action: (1) Economic sanctions; (2) break in diplomatic relations; (3) shut out from U.N.O. the Spanish nation till it gets rid of Franco. All this is on the ground that the Spanish people are not governed by a method of their own choice! What a cynical disregard of the spirit of the Atlantic Charter. Why single out Spain as an example of a nation requiring help to freedom? Do not the Russian people need help to a decent freedom? Whv not start there—within the U.N.0.? Is this the old power politics, as under the League of Nations? There are weak ones within the U.N.O. if weak ones must be attacked.—l am, etc., Ace.
