CHEAPER RATES
AIR MAILS TO DOMINION
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE ANNOUNCED
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 15. Cheaper air mail rates to America will come into force next week. Arrangements have been made for mails' from New Zealand to be carried there by the new Sydney—Vaucouver service of British Commonwealth Pacific Air Lines. The rate on the British service will be 2s 6d a half-ounce to Canada and the United States, against 4s on the Pan-American service.
The cheaper alternative was announced to-day by the Postmastergeneral, Mr Webb, who said that agreement had been reached on forwarding air mails from New Zealand to North. Central and South America by the fortnightly interim air service between Sydney and Vancouver by Australian National Airways on behalf of British Commonwealth Pacific Air Lines. As the service did not touch New Zealand, the connection in the meantime would be either at Sydney or Fiji. The British or American service could be used according to the route desired.
