RANGITATA ARRIVES
LARGE PASSENGER LIST SERVICEMEN AND CIVILIANS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 22. The Rangitata, which arrived at Wellington to-day, brought, in addition to a small number of returning servicemen, wives and fiancees of servicemen, including 17 Italian girls who embarked at Port Said, as well as 25 nurses who are the first of a quota of 200 being brought to New Zealand by the Government to staff mental hospitals. Other passengers included six sisters of the Order of St. Joseph of Cluney from Eire, three of whom are going to Tauranga and the others to Fiji; members of the British colonial service returning to posts in the Pacific: three members of the New Zealand delegation to the Empire Press Conference in London —Messrs R. H. Billens, of Palmerston North, G. C. Webster, of Auckland, and R. V. White, of Christchurch; a number of servicemen who have completed bursaries in the United Kingdom; other New Zealanders who were obliged to spend the duration of the war in England; English families with Dominion connections who intend settling in New Zealand; and a few business men seeking trade openings. One of the passengers was Richard Sharp, infant son of Mr and Mrs R. H. A. Sharp, of Auckland, who suffered a fractured skull through falling 50 feet down a hatch, but made a remarkable recovery on the voyage.
