WINGATUI TRACK WORK
PREPARATIONS FOR GORE The tracks at Wingatui were freely used yesterday morning, among those worked being several horses engaged at Gore on Saturday and Monday. Naturally the going was heavy after the rain and snow earlier in the week, and most of the times recorded were slow. Piccolo, who is an unlikely starter at Gore, put up the best gallop of the morning. covering half a mile in 50jsec. He looks well after his winning effort at Geraldine. Red Pickle and Joygiver were not asked to step against the watch, being given strong work. Both are in excellent condition. On the grass, Tring, Desert Trek, and Quadrille members of H. Anderton’s team, were sent over a mile, coming home over the last six furlongs in lmin 24 3-ssec, with Tring leading at the post by three lengths. Knight Crusader was doing better than St. Joachim at the end of half a mile in 53sec, and Punjab led Paper View over the same distance in 57sec. Foxchase and Stagestruck were keen to go faster when travelling over five furlongs in lmln Bsec. On the sand, Mediate finished well after being worked over a mile and a-half. Fine Night took 52sec, Gold Spur 53sec and Speedy and Air Ace 53Jsec for four furlongs.
