THE RECORD OF LABOUR

PRIME MINISTER’S REVIEW AN ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION While all good National Party supporters and the more curious members of the Labour Party were no doubt listening at their firesides to the broadcast address by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Holland, about 1500 residents of Dunedin were present in the Town Hall last night to hear an address by the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser. It was an enthusiastic audience, which frequently cheered the Prime Minister’s outline of the Government’s achievements and his criticisms of the Opposition’s intentions, and there was almost a complete absence of interjection or provocation of any sort. In fact, only one interjection was heard throughout the address, and it was so indistinct as not to be noticed by the speaker. In the absence of the Mayor, Mr Cameron, from Dunedin, Mr W. A. Hudson, acting president of the Otago Labour Representation Committee and the Labour candidate for Mornington, presided. The Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, and Mr P. G. Connolly, M.P., and Mr R. Walls, M.P., were on the platform, as were Mr F. Percy, secretary and organiser of the Labour Representation Committee, and several other prominent members of the movement in Dunedin.
