Drastic restrictions on fuel consumption are contemplated by the Government in the near future'unless there is a considerable improvement in the coal situation, says the Daily Telegraph’s political correspondent. The contemplated restrictions include a strict rationing system for all domestic and and industrial users, and compulsory “fuel watching” in all industrial undertakings. The correspondent adds that the present labour force in the mines Is about 693,000, but natural wastage is expected to reduce it to 687,000 during the year, and it is estimated that only 620,000 effective workers will be available iif a year’s time.
