PERSIAN TRIBESMEN
ATTACK ON AMERICAN (Rec 7 p.m.) TEHERAN, Oct. 16.. Captain Alexis Gagarin, an American asistant military attache to the United States Embassy, stated that he killed two and wounded several other Horahmadi tribesmen in self-defence 20 miles north of Shiraz. Captain Gagarin said he was travelling in a jeep flying the American flag when about 15 horsemen attacked him. His Persian interpreter fired into the air, ■while Gagarin drove frantically for cover. The horsemen fired and Gagarin replied with 15 rounds from a carbine. He drove the tribesmen off. after which, while proceeding to Shiraz. Gagarin encountered a peasant and a truck driver who had been robbed and stripped by the same tribesmen.
