HAWKE’S BAY MEETING
OPULENT IN THE GUINEAS (Special) WELLINGTON. Oct. 4. The first contest for the Hawke’s Bay Guineas since 1930 will be decided at Hastings to-morrow, when the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club will conclude its spring meeting. A field of about 10 appears likely. Flying Robin has been withdrawn, Desert Fox is a doubtful starter, and Sea Fury will not be at the meeting. The weather has remained fine during the week, and the going again will be in good order. Betting will be win-and-place, and the following horses will be well supported:— 11.30: Tomoana Hurdles.—Tracer. Bonnie Scot, Seropuri. 12.15: Otane Handicap.—Balcherrie, Omit. Voltaic. 1.0: Russell Memorial Handicap.—Catterlck Bridge, Cramond Bay, Delinquent. 1.45: Trial Handicap.—King’s Ransom. Haere Huku, Alumnus. 2.30: Juvenile Handicap.—Petre Mar. Sparkling Scholar. Erinmore. 3.15: Hawke’s Bay Guineas.—Opulent Morocco. Sakuntala. 4.0: Stewards’ Handicap.—Royal Heir, Blue Chips, Matador. 4.45. Final Handicap.—Playtos, Czarina, Mesalliance.
