THE CHRISTCHURCH OFFERING GOOD PRICES FOR QUALITY LINES (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH. Oct. 2. The first auction sale of fine wools in Christchurch for seven years was held to-day when 5344 bales p ru tchings, oddments and a small quantity of fleece wpre offered. All except the most inferior types met an excellent demand from Continent and America at prices up to 27d-for half-bred fleece. Little Bradford type wool was offered and buyers were not active. Bidding was quiet, but steady at values considerably in excess of appraisement le in S addition to the new wool, 2680 bales of stock slipe and scoured wool and 16,382 bales of stock wool from Invercargill were offered. Values for limited quantities of fleece wools offered ranged as follow: Half-bred— super 243 d to 27d, good to super 21d to 24d, inferior 123 d to 173 d: three-quarterbred, good to super 20d to 233 d, average 173 d to 193 d, inferior 12d to 17d. Merino fleece made to 21Jd and crossbred fleece to 203 d. Halfbred pieces made to 23d and three-quarterbred to 16d. Merino pieces made to 203 d. The official range of prices is as follows: Crutchingar-halfbred, extra super, 16d to 17d; good to super 12|d to 15d; average, lid to 12Jd; inferior 73d to lOd. three-quarterbred—good to super 123 d. to 143 d; average lid to 123 d; inferior 6d to 9d. Crossbred —good 12d to 133 a, average 93d to lid: inferior 6d to 9d. Carpet crutchings, 18d to 19,3 d.
