Indifferent handling appeared to cost Ben Adam a win on ,the first day at Addington. The Auckland Trotting Club will distribute £13,850 in stakes at its spring meetlug. Forewarned gave a good display in the Trotters’ Free-for-All at Easter and will not be neglected in her race to-day. W. R. Butt, the leading trainer of last season, 'started 10 horses on the first day at Addington, and the best form was shown by Gamble King, who - finished fourth in the Islington Handicap. The weather in Christchurch has been bad throughout the week, and yesterday rain was falling again. The heavy going may favour Minmi Boy, Tenpennybit and Lou Hall. Reassessments '

A Useful Team D. Withers, who recently resumed training after a long spell, has in work King H'ph- Scottish Air, Naughty Girl. Mac Volo and a mare by Gamble from Little Reta. King High showed good form in the early part of last season when he won two races in his first three starts when trained by F. G. Holmes for Mr C. Fitzpatrick. An aged gelding by Calumet Axworth, he is out of Queens Up, who is by Jack Potts from Alone, by Wildwood Jnr. from the Rothschild mare Navaho.
