august activities Members of the Dunedin branch of the League for the Hard of Hearing were entertained recently by a concert party der the direction of Mr G. W. Johnstone. Items were presented by Zettha Mitchell June Angelo, Nola Bowie (piano solos) and Thelma Howison. Clara Rouse Jennie Mearns. Margarita Smith Rae Geddes Noeleen Moody and Doreen Thomson (songs). The accompanist was Miss Rona Thomson. The last women's social function for the term was also a musical one, when Mj ss E. B Clarke, accompanied by Miss McDowell gave several solos After thanking the soloist for her songs the president Mrs Ballard, said that the afternoon was the fourth anniversary oi the commencement of the women s afternoons which had proved a popular feature of the work of the league In appreciation of her interest in the womens afternoons, Miss D M McLean, organising teacher, aas presented with a bouquet of winter roses. The church service for the month was conducte4 by Major Chandler, of the Salvation Army. ■
