INSTANT RELEASE

WOUNDED TURKISH CAPTAIN MARSHAL TITO’S PROMISE (Rec. 1 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 27. After representations from the. Turkish Ambassador in Belgrade Marshal Tito agreed to the immediate release of the Turkish captain Unesen, who was wounded when he was a passenger on the American aircraft which was shot down in Jugoslavia. A message from New York' says that Mr Herbert Hoover declared that the United States should halt relief supplies to Jugoslavia until a free election, as agreed on at Yalta, can be held. Supplies after that should be freely distributed without Communist control as at present. The Washington correspondent of the Herald-Tribune says a high State Department source revealed that the United States was not placing a complaint against Jugoslavia on the Security Council’s agenda due to the marked improvement in diplomatic relations after negotiations behind the scenes in Washington, Paris, and Belgrade.
