FORMATION OF GOVERNMENT FURTHER MEETING PROBABLE BOMBAY, Aug. 26. Mr Jinnah stated that Lord Wavell’s action in forming, an interim Government was very unwise and very unstatesmanlike. It was fraught with dangerous consequences. He added: “My reaction td Lord WavelFs broadcast is that he struck a severe blow against the Moslems, but I am sure that they are bearing this with fortitude and courage. Lord Wavell only added insult to injury in nominating three Moslems who do not command either the respect or confidence of Moslem India.” Mr Z. H. Lari, deputy leader of the Moslem League, in the United Provinces’ Assembly, declaredVthat Lord Wavell’s broadcast “ practically met the league’s essential demands.” He 'appealed to Mr Jinnah to call an urgent council meeting and review the situation. Shouts of “Fight to obtain Pakistan,” greeted the Viceroy, Lord Wavell, when, after flying from New Delhi v he visited ,a Moslem refugee centre during a tour of Calcutta's riot areas, says Reuter’s correspondent. Later,' when he entered a Hindu refugee centre, he was met with shouts of “ Victory to India,” which is the war cry of the Indian National organised for riot victims reek strongly of JD.D.T. and other disinfectants. They house 7000 of a total of. 12,000 refugees. Lord Wavell left for 1 New Delhi this afternoon. A meeting of the working Committee of the Non-Congress Untouchables’ Federation at Poona decided to launch a non-violent direcr action campaign in protest against the provisions for the Untouchables in the Independence plan; It also decided that members should renounce their British titles. The federation wants separate political representation for India’s 49,000,000 Untouchables.
