NATIONAL SAVINGS

QUOTA SUCCESSES (Special) WELLINGTON, Aug. 27. Last week further good progress was lecorded towards the attainment of the Dominion objective of £6,000,000 in national savings for the year. Two hundred and eighty-six places reached their individual cjuotas for the week and all postal district quotas were exceeded. In the Blenheim, Dunedin, Greymouth, Nelson, Oamaru, Timaru, Wanganui, and Westport districts all the local areas succeeded in obtaining the stipulated amounts. Over 7000 new national savings accounts nave been opened since April 1 last, of which number the Auckland district has contributed 1927, Wellington 1108, Christchurch 662, and Dunedin 553.
