QUARTERMASTER DISQUALIFIED (Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 25. Quite Right, the win favourite, broke at the start of the Intermediate Handicap Freckles was soon in front,- with Maximum and Betty Maxegin next. The order was unchanged starting the last round, where Betty Maxegin broke, while Gelert moved up to second. Quartermaster took third place at the home turn. Freckles tired in the straight and Gelert, going wide to secure firmer ground, won decisively from Quartermaster on the rails, while Freckles hung on to beat Maximum for third, with Royal Dale close up. Quartermaster broke in the first furlong and galloped nearly a furlong. An objection was lodged against him receiving second money, and after evidence had been heard he was disqualified from the race. Islington Handicap Minmi Boy took charge after two furlongs in the Islington Handicap, Play Safe, Bien Sur, and Ben Adam follow lng till three furlongs from home, where Play Safe retired, while Globe Direct started to move up after a slow beginning. Continuing his run in the straight, Globe Direct failed by a neck to reach Minmi Boy, while Bien Sur was three lengths away, with Gamble King and Renown's Pride next.
