STOCKS GETTING INTO SMALL COMPASS AMPLE SUPPLIES OF POTATOES As few lines of milling wheat are now coming on the market neither millers nor merchants are showing much interest in this particular busiSupplies of fowl wheat sufficient to meet the demand are being made available by the Wheat Controller. The favourable winter weather experienced throughout Otago should ensure a good acreage being sown down in spring wheat. Flour, Bran, etc. Flour: 200’s. £l3 15s 6d; 100’s, £l4 12s 6d; 50’s, £l4 17s 6d; 25’s £ls 7s 6d. Pollard: £6 15s per ton of 20001 b. Bran: £5 5s per ton of 20001 b. Oatmeal, 2001 b sacks. £25 10s 6d per ton- 251 b loose, £27 0s 6d. packed in sacks of eight £27 10s 6d. Contracts for Oats Stocks of oats are getting into short compass and there is a ready market for all available sound lines. Black oats continue slow of value. Inquiries are now being made for seed oats for spring sowing and as millers are prepared to invite contracts for the purchase of white oats on the basis of a maximum price of 4/- a bushel, on trucks, country sidings, sacks extra, there should be a good response from growers. It ts expected that there will be an outlet for all cereals that can.be produced in New Zealand during the coming seasom The chaff market continues quiet, with values unaltered at £7 5s per ton, ex truck. Dunedin, for good oaten sheaf lines. . . _ Potato Market Unchanged
The bulk of the local supplies of potatoes are being drawn from South Canterbury Only an occasional small line is now coming forward from South Otago The quality of the tubers continues ex cellent but in some instances where the potatoes have been held in store for some time they require heavy picking over. The market continues firm for most lines of seeds. Exporters advise that wholesale prices m United States for such varieties as white clover, perennial ryegrass. white clover and Montgomery red clover are actually above those ruling

The following are the wholesale prices for eggs - Dunedin marketing area - Heavy 2s Id per dozen, standard Is lid. medium Is 9d. ungraded Is 7d. duck (large) Is lid. small Is 9d. ungraded Is 6d. The prices for the country area are Id per dozen lower in each instance.
Butter and Bacon Wholesale prices are as follows: Butter: Bulk, first grade, Is 4% per lb: pats, first grade, Is 5d per lb; separator, Is Id per lb. Bacon. Is 3d per lb.
