FOOD PARCELS

KNOX CHURCH EFFORT Some time ago the Deacons’ Court of Knox Church decided to raise a fund to assist in the relief of distress in Britain. It was decided that the gifts should be sent to Edinburgh, and that the co-opera-tion of a former minister, the Rev. Tulloch Yuille, should be sought in having them distributed. It was also decided that the food parcels should be addressed to individual homes, and Mr Yuille assisted by supplying lists of homes in which he considered the need to be greatest In one of his letters Mr Yuille said: “As a matter of fact, everything is welcome—not just for the food value, but for the psychological value. The feeling of getting something extra or something unusual fills grown-up people with a childish delight. I have never known people to be so willing to accept a gift of food as they are to-day. There is no mock modesty about it. The only question ever asked is, ‘Are you Sure you can spare it? ’ The money value of anything hardly matters to-day.”
