INDOOR BASKETBALL

OTAGO’S GOOD WIN The result of the representative indoor basketball game Otago-Southland, played at Mataura on Saturday, was gratifying to Otago supporters. Several of the province's strongest players were not available. Southland did not provide the stiff opposition that was expected after the good showing given last year, and Otago played a sound all-round game to win by the comfortable margin of 54—26 The match confirmed Otago’s claim to the South Island Championship, won at the South Island tournament held In Christchurch earlier In the season at which Southland did not compete. The remaining fixtures for the season are the return matches in Dunedin against Canterbury and Southland and the New Zealand tournament to be held In Wellington on Labour Day week-end. The selectors require the following players to report to the Garrison Hall for practice every Wednesday night from 7.30 to 5.30. D. W. Anderson, J. Collins, R. Darracott, I. Garner, R. Gamer, E. McDonald, A. Mills. M. Myles, J. Ormiston. J. Paterson, N. Roberts, W, Walace, L. Williams, N. Williams. Walter Williams.
