THE NEW ZEALAND BORN

Sir,—The good citizens of this country who cannot write " New Zealand-born ” on their birth certificates know where they stand with the National Party, thanks to its intelligent apologist “ Matilda.” They are not wanted as members of Parliament or in any offices requiring intelligence. This savours of the parish pump. I wonder what their attitude would be toward people in this country like myself. I was imported into this country 40 years ago by my parents. I was too young at that time to have a say in the matter of what country I should be dumped into. There were eight brothers and sisters along with me. The older ones fought in the Great War, and the younger ones in the last. We have all been good citizens, helping to make this country what it is to-day. and have taken nothing from it so far, only helping to contribute towards its heavy taxation.

There is the satisfaction of knowing that the ballot box can answer all my questions, which it certainly will when the time comes.—l am, etc.. Imported. August 7.
