OTAGO HIGH SCHOOL

OLD BOYS’ REUNION The Oamaru branch of the Otago High School Old Boys’ Society held its annual meeting and reunion in the Star and Garter tea rooms on Thursday night, Mr R. B. Meek presiding. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr H. J. S. Grater; vicepresident, Mr H. C. Jeffery; honorary secretary, Mr D. L. Garvan; committee, Messrs R. Edmonson and R. L. Duthie. Reference was made to the deaths of Mr R. L. Banks, who was the oldest member of the branch, and Mr W. J. Morrell, who was rector of the school for many years. The proposal for a war memorial library to be erected at the school was strongly supported and it was decided to write to the chairman of the Memorial Committee and request him to pay a personal visit to old boys-to endeavour to raise the required funds. A short toast list was honoured and items were contributed by Messrs Hendon, Armstrong and Macmillan.
