ESTIMATED RECEIPTS. £ Balance brought forward, Government Subsidy, Licences, Refunds and Miscellaneous 1905 Additional sum required and proposed to be raised by a General Rate of One shiliing and one penny-halfpenny (Is lid) in the pound (£) on £61,275, which sum of £61,275 is the total rateable value of the property on the Valuation Roll (£68,130) less reductions under the Urban Farm Land Rating Act, 1932 (£6415), less rateable value of property owned by the Mosgiel Borough Council (£1855) .. .. 3416 £5321 NOTICE OF INTENTION TO MAKE AND LEVY RATES. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Mosgiel Borough Council, pursuant to the powers enabling it in that behalf, will, at a SPECIAL MEETING of the Council to be held in the COUNCIL CHAMBER, Coronation Hall, Mosgiel, at 7.30 p.m. on MONDAY, the twenty-sixth day of AUGUST, 1946, Make and Levy the following Rates and Fees for the period commenced on the first day of APRIL, 1946, and ending on the thirty-first day of MARCH, 1947, viz.:— A GENERAL RATE under Section 77 of “ The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” of ONE SHILLING AND ONE PENNY HALFPENNY (Is' lid) in the pound (£) on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Mosgiel. A SEPARATE RATE to be known'as the LIGHTING RATE under Section 89 of “ The Municipal Corporations Act, 1633,” of ONE PENNY AND ONE-EIGHTH OF A PENNY (lid) in the pound (£) on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Mosgiel. A WATER RATE under Section 84 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” In respect of the ordinary supply as follows: (a) On all lands and dwelling houses to which water is supplied a rate of ONE PENNY HALFPENNY (lid) in the pound (£) on the unimproved value of such lands and dwelling houses, but so that if such rate would produce less than Ten Shillings (10s) in respect of any such land or dwelling house, a charge of TEN SHILLINGS (10s) will be levied. (b) On all lands and dwelling houses to which water can be but is not supplied situate within one hundred yards from any part of the waterworks, a rate of ONE HALF of the rate above mentioned. (c) On all buildings other than dwelling houses a rate not exceeding ONE HALF of the rate mentioned in paragraph (a) hereof. A CHARGE of TWENTY SHILLINGS (20s) for the first and FIFTEEN SHILLINGS (15s) for each additional Water Closet in private houses and other premises; and a CHARGE of TWO POUNDS (£2) for the first and THIRTY SHILLINGS (30s) for each additional Water Closet in any hotel. A SANITATION FEE under Section 00 of ” The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933,” of THIRTY-FIVE SHILLINGS (355) per pan for the removal of nightsoil from all properties to which such service can be given and which are not connected with any public drain; and a FEE of TWELVE SHILLINGS AND SIXPENCE (12s 6d) for the removal of refuse from all properties as have a building erected thereon from which the Council is prepared to remove all refuse. A SEPARATE RATE to be known ns THE HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID RATE under Section 54 of “ The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926,” of SIXPENCE (6d) in the pound (£) on the unimproved value of ail rateable property within the Borough of Mosgiel. A SPECIAL RATE under “ The Local Bodies Loans Act,, 1926,” of THREEPENCE AND FIVE-EIGHTS OF A PENNY (3|d) in the pound (£ i on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Mosgiel to provide for payment of annual charges on £16,000 DRAINAGE AND WATERWORKS RENEWAL LOAN. A SPECIAL RATE under "The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926,” of TWOPENCE ONE FARTHING (21d) in the pound (£) on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Mosgiel to provide for payment of interest ai.d sinking fund on CONVERSION LOAN OF £9500. A SPECIAL RATE under "The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926,” of ONE PENNY AND ONE-EIGHTH OF A PENNY ,ljd) in the pound (£) on the unimproved value of all rateable property within the borough of Mosgiel to provide for payment of annual charges on PUBLIC WORKS LOAN, 1938, £3OOO. The above RATES and FEES to be PAYABLE IN ONE SUM and in each case on the thirteenth day of AUGUST, 1946, at the offices of the Mosgiel Borough Council, Coronation Hall, Gordon road, Mosgiel, and an ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF TEN PER CENTUM (10 per cent.) will be imposed on all such Rates and Fees remaining Unpaid after the thirteenth day of MARCH, 1947. And public Notice is hereby GIVEN that the VALUATION ROLL of the Borough of Mosgiel is OPEN FOR INSPECTION by all persons concerned at the offices of the Mosgiel Borough Council, Coronation Hall, Gordon road.
