FERTILISER SUPPLIES

INCREASED DISTRIBUTION HOPES FOR COMING YEAR (P.A.) AUCKLAND, August 9. Substantially increased supplies of superphosphate should he available in New’ Zealand this production year, said Mr S. Irwin Crookes, chairman of the New Zealand Farmers’ Fertiliser Company Ltd., at the annual meeting today. The total might reach 600,000 tons for the whole Dominion.

To achieve this result, Mr Crookes said, the conditions were that allocated quantities of 370,000 tons of phosphate rock be delivered for the 12 months ending June 3-, 1947, as compared with 264.000 tons for the previous 12 months, and that this be converted into superphosphate; that the manufacturing capacity in New Zealand be equal to the task, and that adequate transport be available by road and rail for distribution.
