OVERSEAS SUPPLIES AWAITED PRODUCE PRICES UNCHANGED Crops of milling wheat have passed out of first hands and millers are now working on their stocks. Information when supplies of overseas wheat will reach the market Is now being awaited. Flour, Bran, etc. Flour: 200’s, £l3 15s 6d; 100’s, £l4 12s 6d; 50’s, £l4 17s 6d; 25’s, £ls 7s 6d. Bollard: £6 15s per ton of 20001 b. Bran: £5 5s per ton of 20001 b. Oatmeal, 2001 b sacks, £25 10s 6d per ton; 251 b loose, £27 0s 6d, packed In sacks of eight £27 10s 6d. The Oats Market. There is a brisk demand for white oats, and these are still being supplied to the North Island. Lines of Gartons and Onwards are saleable at the maximum price of 4s a bushel cn trucks, country sidings, sacks extra. Duns have had a clearance from the sto"es for shipment to the North Island, but there is little demand for black oats. The chaff market is unchanged at £7 5s a ton for good bright oaten sheaf chaff. Inferior quality has a very weak market. Sutton’s Supreme Potatoes. The crops of potatoes in the Otago district have now been practically all dug and have either been shipped to the North Island or gone out of first hands. Fairly substantial quantities of Sutton’s Supreme are arriving from South Canterbury. These are very nice quality. Sutton’s Supreme and King Edward potatoes are quoted at 10s per ton above the prices of other varieties.

There is now some activity in the seed potato market and fair sized orders are being delivered to country. Firm position in Seeds. The market for Brown top and Chewings fescue is firm, and there is still an inquiry from overseas for these seeds. The market for white clover is steady and a fair quantity is changing hands. Montgomery red clover is also meeting with a fair demand. This seed usually comes from Central Otago and South Canter' bury. The firmness of the market for ryegrass is maintained, and this also applies to the market for crested dogstail. The cocksfoot market continues weak. Another Reduction in Egg Prices The following are the wholesale prices for eggs: Dunedin marketing area: Heavy 2s Id per dozen, standard Is lid, medium Is 9d, ungraded Is 7d, duck (large) Is lid, small Is 9d, ungraded Is 6d. The prices for the country area are Id per dozen lower in each instance. Butter and Bacon Wholesale prices are as follows: Butter: Bulk, first grade, Is 4 1 per lb; pats, first grade, Is 5d per-lb; separator. Is Id per lb. Bacon, Is 3d per lb. PALMERSTON SALE The quality of the entries at yesterday’s sale at Palmerston, which comprised a percentage of hoggets, was not particularly good For this reason, not a great deal of interest was shown, although the bulk of the offerings was cleared at prices which showed a firming tendency. Quotations are as follows:—Average ewe hoggets, 30s; medium, 34s sd; small, 20s; culls, 14s 6d; small wether hoggets, 14s; two-tooth wethers, 28s 9d. MINING NEWS Mount Morgan Profit. —The estimated net profit for the four weeks ended July 28 from mining operations, including overhead expenses, but excluding any provision for depreciation, was £12,048 Rimu Dredge.—The return for the cleanup period from July 23 to August 6 was 27: ounces of gold from 69,025 yards of material in 2353 hours. The July totals were 382.67 ounces from 92,359 yards in 318 hours.
