COMMISSIONER SMITH

NEW COMMAND ANNOUNCED (F.A.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. The head of the Salvation Army in New Zealand for the last six and ahafl years, Commissioner J. Evan Smith, has been appointed to the command of the Southern Australia territory, with headquarters at Melbourne, embracing the State of Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania. The commissioner succeeds Commissioner W. R. Dalziel, who has been appointed British commissioner. He will take up his new duties in October. Commissioner Smith has not completed the plans for his farewell tour, but expects to carry out the Youth Day Council meetings already announced for Christchurch. Wellington, and Auckland.
