RED CROSS NOTES

The voluntary aids have undertaken to stock a produce stall for the annual Red Cross Street Day collection on August 30. Donations of produce and other goods will be gratefully received

at the Red Cross oliice, 2nd Floor, Queen’s Buildings, on Thursday, August 23. Lectures in home nursing have started at tne Public Hospital. The society wishes to acknowledge the splendid donation of £52 tis, which nas come to hand from its Waipiata subcentre, towards the Food for Britain Fund. < Junior Red Cross.—A hearty welcome has been extended to four new circles— Milburn, East Taieri, Oturehua, and NorthEast Harbour, and all members are finding much satisfaction and pleasure in activities that help less fortunate children.

Some fine donations have been received for the " Collective Adoption ’’ scheme. Broad Bay and St. Hidda's College each £5; Benhar, £3 3s; Anderson’s Bay, £3 3s; Wyllie’s Crossing, £3; and Sacred Heart Schools, £3 gave their funds towards food for Europe. Slopedown and Poolburn also sent donations amounting to 375. Some shoes in splendid order have been forwarded to Greece. More members are wanted for the magazine. Will all secretaries, if they have not already done so, please send to the organiser reports of their activities and the number of members in the circle. Donations from the juniors for the V.A.D. stall would be welcome. Wedderburn Sub-centre Meeting.—The July meeting of this sub-centre was held at Mrs Clark’s residence, with Mrs R. Duncan, president, in the chair. Members continue ta take a keen interest in Red Cross work, and are willing to help in any capacity. Girls’ frocks, etc., to be made up to send to Britain, were given out for making, and the meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair and Mrs Clark.
