LEAP FROM A TRAIN

NAVY RATING UNDER ARREST (Rec. 10.15 p.m.) SYDNEY. Aug. 8. Climbing through a lavatory window, a Royal Navy rating on the way from Sydney under escort leaped from the Brisbane express near the Hnwkesbury River to-day and escaped. He is a stoker, aged 20. He jumped when the train was moving slowly uphih. Immediately the escort became aware of his absence, the emergency communication cord was pulled and the escort gave chase. Passengers reported that they had seen a man running towards bushes. A full-scale police search is now being made, and all stations have been warned.
