CLUB RUNS
Mornington
Before the Mornington Club run the schoolboys’ race on Elgin road was held over a course of about 1000yds, resulting: J. Mason 1, J. Milne 2, —lsbister 3. The fast pack ran down Kenmure road, round the back of Mount Grand,- via Southern Reservoir, down Fraser’s Gully, and home via Stone street. A fast pace was maintained. The combined slow and junior pack ran up to the reservoir, around the water races, up Mount Grand and down to Kaikorai Valley via Brockville road. The run home resulted: —N. Thornicroft 1, F. Rowley 2, A. McMillan 3. Civil Service The Civil Service Club’s weekly run was held from the old Caversham school. The fast pack ran to Green Island beach, covering some good harrier country. In the run home from Corstorphine, C. Beadle, L. Bradshaw, and R. Garden were prominent. The slow pack ran to Tunnel Beach. G. Brinsdon led in the run home, with R. Rudken and G. McKersey second and third. The colts had a good run, McKernan, Brinsdon, Pollock and: Frude being prominent." Celtic United The Celtic United Club held its run from the Coach and Horses, Fairfield. Four packs were formed and ran over ideal harrier country. The fast and slow packs ran together to Brighton, and the slow pack returned round the Mosgiel side of the saddle. D. Gallivan was first in a long run home, followed by J. McLaughlan and L. Bocard. The fast pack returned around the Fairfield Swamp, D. Hutton winnlng ( from H. Coombs and B. Munro. The road pack had a hard run round the saddle to Brighton and returned via the Brighton road and Green Island. G. Currie and R. Carroll were prominent. The colts had a long slow run over open country, J. Clarke, P. Dyson and J. Crawford running well. Leith The Leith Harrier Club ran from the Holy Innocents’ Church, Leith Valley, in three packs. The fast pack finished in a bunch, The results were as follows: Juniors: I. Burns 1, F. Perry 2, and S. Walkinshaw 3. Slow pack: G. Lawless 1, T. Breen 2, and M. Gunn 3.
University The University Harrier Club held a run from the St. Clair Surf Bathing Pavilion via Tunnel Beach to Blackhead and back Tire results were as follows:—Fast pack: B. G. Stanley 1, R. Hunt 2, and R. Walker 3. Medium pack: W. McGregor 1, and L. Shenkin 2.
Presbyterian Bible Class The Presbyterian Club held its run from the Wakarl Presbyterian Church Hall. The course was over Flagstaff, along Whare Flat road, returning through Fraser’s Gully. The results were as follows:—Fast pack: A. G. Horwell 1, W. J. Schrader 2, P. S. Ferens 3. Intermediate pack: T. K. Cowan 1, D. S. Chalmers 2, S R. Murcott 3. Slow pack: J. D. Campbell 1, T. C. Somerville 2, D. J. Walton 3. Anglican The Anglican Harrier Club held its weekly run from St. Kilda Bathing Pavilion. The fast pack proceeded along the Golf Links past Tomahawk to Smaill’s Beach, returning via the road and beach. Wilson, who returned from Japan this week, showed up with Caradus and McCall. The slow pack followed a similar route, Pullar, Armstrong and Brown leading the run home.
