Paul to the Elders of the Church at Ephesus, Acts 20: 17-38—his prediction and warning of an approaching Apostasv —or forsaking of the Truth. Paul’s address on Mars Hill was to heathens. This one was to enlightened baptised believers of the true Gospel he preached (Acts 28: 23, 30-1, etc.). He needed not to tell them they were in hopeless ignorance. But he did warn them very earnestly and pathetically to beware of straying away from the hope of the Gospel. Thus, although they were God-appointed Elders, with actual possession of Holy Spirit and able to work miracles to prove it (Acts 19: 1-7 and 5. 12 15: Heb. 2: 4), yet they COULD fall away ” and be “ lost.” This PROVES the common idea —" once saved, always saved,” is error: as 1 Cor. 15: 2; Heb. 3: 6; and 6: 4-6; Matt. 10: 22. Paul said: " Take heed unto yourselves, and to the flock ... of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.” Paul said similar things to other enlightened believers: as 2 Thess, 3: 7. “ there shall came a falling away. 1 Tim 4' 13 "In the latter times some shall depart'from the faith." 2 Tim.. 4: 4 “they shall turn away from the truth. Titus 1: 11, "teaching lies . . for filthy lucre Also 2 Cor. 2: 16; 2 Tim. 3: 1, 13: 2 Pet 2: 11, 14: 15. Jesus said at His coming the world would be " as in the days of Noah,” Matt. 24: 37, when only eight were saved out of millions: and asked the question—” shall He find the faith in the earth?” Luke 18: 8. God-insoired Amos prophesied “ a famine . . of hearing the word of the Lord” (8: 11): and Jeremiah 16: 19, that "the Gentiles (and English speaker', are Gentiles) shall come . . and say (they had) inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein is no profit." In view of all these warnings, it may be asked—has there been a departure from the true Gospel, to fables and lies which cannot save? Indeed, YES, Compare the following God-inspired Bible doctrines with present-day beliefs ONE GOD (not 3) Deut. 5: 4; Mark 12: 29: Matt. 19: 17; 1 Tim. 2: 5. Bible wholly God-inspired (no errors) John 10: 35: 2 Pet. 1: 19: 2 Tim. 3: 15: Heb. 1: 1. Righteous rewarded on EARTH. Matt 5: 5: Rev. 2: 26- and 5: 10. Souls not immortal, but die. Josh 10: 8 30; Ezek. 18- 4, 20; Psa. 22' 29 Dead unconscious. Psa 146: 3-4; Job 14’ 21; Ecc. 9: 5, 10. Christ to return and RULE EARTH. Acts 1: 11; Luke 1: 3335; Psa. 2: 7-12 and 72: 1-11; Zech. 14; 9 No salvation without baptism (believing adult immersion). Mark 16: 16: 1 Pet. 3: 20-1: Gal. 3: 27; Acts 8: 12; Rom 6: 1-6: John 3: 5. There are many others. Do Christians ” teach and believe them to-day? Or have thev substituted other ideas, just as Paul said they would and really " departed from the truth? ” Are you going fc HEED the warnings, and come back to the Truth; and be one of those who by belief of above Truths, and obedience, have hope of Eternal Life.
