TROTTING NOTES

By Sentinel Jottings Emulous is the leading stake-winner for the season with £8534. Dundee Sandy has been working well at Addington, and will be in capital condition for the National meeting next month. Although the Wellington Trotting Club has raced on only three days this season, the net profit of £3639 8s 5d is a record. The southern pacer Navigate is expected to step his way into the tightest classes next season. He will be raced at Addington next month. / Mr D. Gordon, of Roxburgh, who bred and trained Kildonnin. has a three-year-old sister to that good trotter in work. She may be raced at the Otago Hunt Club meeting. Smart Trotters The Dunedin-owned trptters Blue Horizon and Will Cary are Still enjoying a spell. As a five-year-old in the 1944-45 season Blue Horizon proved himself one of the best trotters seen out in recent years by recording six wins and four placiDgs in 11 starts. Sir Volo As a five-year-old last season, the Lusty Volo gelding Sir Volo showed good form for F J Smith to win two races and record two second placings, but unsoundness threatened his career and he was given a spell. He was transferred to J. Young’s team at Addington over 12 months ago, and after racing in the Speedway Handicap at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s meeting on August 18 was taken along very quietly. Sir Volo appears to have responded to the care and attention he has received, and he should have bright prospects for the new season.
