HOLIDAY PAY

HARBOUR BOARD RE-AFFIRMS DECISION

At the June meeting of the Otago Harbour Board the following notice of motion by Mr L. F. Evans was referred to the Finance Committee for consideration:— “ That this board take the necessary steps to discharge its financial obligations (which accrued between the years 1938 and 1942 inclusive) to Mr A. Cleveland, District road, Ravensbourne, a past employee of the board, and such present and past employees of the board as are justly emtltled to such payment, as' set out in the terms of the awards of the Court of Arbitration covering the stated period.” The motion referred to extra payment for work done on statutory holidays. The board, at its meeting on Thursday night, adopted the committee's recommendation that, as the board had met its legal obligations In full, no further action should be taken.
