Ministerial The Minister of Works. Mr R. Semple, will arrive in Dunedin on Sunday. In the evening the Minister will give a public address, illustrated by a film on housing, in the Concert Chamber, and on Monday morning he will announce the 10-year development plan for North Otago and the Dunedin metropolitan district.-’ y Mr W. G. Young left for Wellington by the express yesterday morning. The Rev. H. W. Newell, secretary of the National Council of Churches in New Zealand, arrived from Christchurch yesterday. He will remain in Dunedin until Monday. Mr Andrew Hamilton, of Wellington, president of the Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand, is at present in Dunedin. He attended the morning call-over of the Dunedin Exchange yesterday. Mr W. B. Richards, president of the New Zealand Transport Workers’ Federation, will leave on Tuesday for Wellington to attend a Government conference, which has been called to consider regulations for trams and trolley buses for the whole of New Zealand. Dr P. Marshall left for Australia on the Moreton Bay on Tuesday to attend the first meeting since the war of the—Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science, of which he is president-elect. He will be the first**, president from New Zealand since 1904. The meeting will be held at Adelaide on August 22. The services of Mr Timothy Sullivan over a period of 25 years as a porter on the staff at the Dunedin Public Hosnital were recognised yesterday, when fellowworkers met him on the occasion of his retirement. The medical superintendent. Dr James Thomson, who presented Mr Sullivan with a cheque, spoke in high terms of his work at the Hospital. At the annual meeting yesterday of the Dunedin branch of the Royal New Zealand Society for the Health of Women and Children, the Mayor. Mr D. C. Cameron. referred to the loss suffered by the society during the year by the death of Miss A. M. O'Shea, an active worker in the society for many years: Mr G. Z. Lindley, a helper in every good work in the city, and Sir James Hutchison, always a great friend of the society. Appreciation of the service rendered to the Otago Harbour Board by Mr Thomas Scojlay was recorded at the meeting of the board last night in the following motion:—"That the board places on record its profound regret at the death of Mr Thomas Scollay. and its appreciation of the practical services rendered by him to the Otago Harbour Board and the public generally during his membership of 21 years, and particularly during his term as chairman (1921-22), and also in the many, and important offices which he occupied during his long and honourable connection with public affairs, ' and further that the board desires to express its sympathy with his widow and son in their bereavement.” - ' !

Mr H. Bloxham. and Mrs B Smith (Auckland), Mr V. E. Jacobs, Mrs E. Peterson. Mr N. Wilson. Mr Chapman. Mr J. W. Brodie, Mr G. T. Matheson, Mr T. Hartley. Mr L. McKnight. and Dr A E. McMilian (Wellington). Mr J. Hogan Mr T. Trevathan, and Mrs M. Hollander (Christchurch). Passengers for Invercargill were Mr G. T. Matheson. Mr O. H Keys. Mrs J. A. Summers. Mr H. Butler: Mr C. P.
