FAIR AND COOL Forecast for Otago.—The following offi- • cial weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.Yn. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation.—A ridge of high pressure covers New Zealand, and a deep depression is south of Tasmania. A cold front is approaching from the west. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Winds, light to moderate and variable, with north-easterlies predominating on the coast; weather fair but cloud increasing; temperatures cool. Weather in Dunedin.—Conditions were pleasant in Dunedin yesterday, with fairly mild temperatures. Four hours 42 minutes of sunshine were recorded. The * maximum temperature was 53deg and the « minimum 42.3, with a grass minimum of 36.9. The wind was from a north-west-erly to westerly direction, and freshened • somewhat towards the evening. The barometer rose steadily throughout the day, and the midnight reading was 29.88 inches (1012 millibars).
