MANCHESTER UNITY
N.G. Sis. M. Park presided over the recent meeting of Loyal Princess Mary Lodge. Sisters who participated were enthusiastic in their praise of the function held in the Town, Hall in connection with the welcome home to returned servicemen. The organisation had left nothing to chance. Almost 100 members of the Order foregathered on the occasion of the official visit from sister lodges to Loyal Valley N.G. Bro. P. H. Young welcomed the visitors, who were representative- of all city ind suburban ■ lodges. The Prov. G.M. and four members of his executive Were also in attendance. - Arrangements were put in train for celebrating •the sixty-third anniversary of the lodge, tc> be held in August. At the conclusion of business the gathering indulged in dancing in the lower hall. Items were rendered by Sis. I. Riddell and Bros McPate and Russeil. The meeting of Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge was held under the control of N.G. Bro. Bottlng, there being a good attendance of members and visiting sisters and brethren. Bro Sharp reported on the activities of the Handbook Committee and the U.F.S. social organisation. P.P.G.M. Bro. J. H. F. Hamel analysed the half-yearly balance sheet, and moved that a minute be recorded in appreciation of Bro. Davidson’s sterling work for the lodge. . , _ . Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, Port Chalmers, honoured its returned soldier brethren by sponsoring two very 1 pleasant functions on their behalf. On. July 3 an "at home ” was held to which the returned soldier brethren brought their mothers, lady friends, and wives. Some of the latter had only recently arrived in the Dominion. A fine programme oi items was contributed by. Sis. Hall Masters, Mr and Mrs Sargison, Mrs Donaldson. Mrs Pistor, Misses Farquharson, Pistor, and Donaldson, and Messrs McKay and Fry. The guests were Welcomed by Prov. G.M. Bro. Frank Austin and N.G. Bro. C, J. Henderson. All city lodges were fully represented. V.G. Bro. A. Innes replied to the welcome on'behalf Qf servicemen. On July 13 a smoko was held,, W.G. Bro. Henderson presiding, supported by , the Mayor of -Port Chalmers. Mr J. Watson, and the Prov GM The function was well supported by members of all city lodges. The toast to returned soldier brethren was proposed by Per. Sec Bro. J. Johnston, and replies were made by representatives of the three arms of the service. Ilems were rendered by Messrs G Butler, L. Neilson, W. Mann, R. Wilson, and Bros. McPate, Rosevear, and Russell.
