OVERCAST AND COLD Forecast for Otago. The following official weather'forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington Situation.—A trough of low pressure is moving slowly eastward over New Zealand. ‘ i Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Mode-date to fresh north-easterly, to northerly winds, changing to westerly or south-westerly during the day; weather overcast and very cold, with occasional rain and some snow likely in the high country. * Further Outlook. Occasional showers. Weather in Dunedin.—After a comparatively light frost in the early morning, thn weather in Dunedin yesterday became milder, a light north-east breeze and moderate temperatures disposing of the frost in all but the most heavily shaded areas. The maximum temperature for the day was 44.3 degrees, and the air minimum was 35 degrees, the grass minimum being 29 degrees. The sun shone intermittently for 1 hour 30 minutes during the day. The barometer fell steadily throughout the day, the reading at midnight being 29.71 inches (1006 millibars).
