NATIONAL SAVINGS
DISTRICT QUOTA IN SIGHT
The full district quota of £36,400 for National Savings, which is not due until March 31, 1947, has been almost reached in North Otago. The full quota has been attained in Hampden and Kurow, and Oamaru’s quota is well within sight. The entire district quota, however, is likley to be reached within a few days. Details of the amounts invested as at July 6 are as follows, with the annual quotas in parentheses: Oamaru, £28,750 (£33,228); Hampden, £I3BO (£1352); Kurow, £3068 (£1820); district. £34,403 (£36,400). These figures are an indication of the continued popularity of National Savings as a sound investment, it being recognised also that while goods and services continue in short supply, the necessity of saving to help maintain the economic stability of the Dominion is as great as ever.
