NORTHERN DEFEATS UNIVERSITY B

At the Gardens ground, after a very evenly contested first spell, in which Northern led by 1 goal to nil against University B, the latter team failed dis--mally in the second spell, and but for the goalkeeper, who saved his side repeatedly. the score would have been greater. The play was patchy, and only at one stage during the second spell did the Northern front line move well. Ives cleared to McFarlane, who cleverly worked his other forwards into position, and McLean scored McLean, Ives, Jenkins and McFarlane scored Northern's goals, and University B’s only goal by Ritchie was scored after a fast break-away which caught the whole Northern defence out of position, Stevenson having no chance to save. The game ended: Northern 7, University B 1. Mr P. George was the referee.
