OTAGO HUNT

MEET AT HIGHCLIFF The weekly run of the Otago Hunt Club was held on Saturday afternoon at Highcliff over the properties of Messrs R: C. Collins, T. W Dickson, A. W. Campbell, J. Robertson, N. Robertson, J. Farquhar. E. Y. Aitken. G. Donaldson, A. H. Sim, and F. W Chapman. For a good number of years the club has not been favoured by the weather when hunting on the Peninsula, but on this occasion conditions were ideal and the going was exceptionally good Members met at the club’s ennels Tahuna, and proceeded to Mr Collin’s property for the throw-off. The first part of the run was alongside the road, and spectators were able to follow right up to the brea before the Highcliff Cafe. There were several falls during the afternoon but neither the riders nor their mounts suffered injury. Several new members followed the hounds. This season the number of riders has gradually increased. On Saturday Miss E. Ings. riding Captain, and Miss Landreth. on a grey cob made their first appearance. During the week at the qualifying runs at North Taieri. Miss Joan Crossan, on General MacArthur, made her first appearance in the Mr P. Hudson, of Palmerston, well known at A. and P. Shows, was a visitor on Saturday and had an enjoyable ride when following on Tobin.
