BROWN'S CONSISTENCY ENGAGED IN THREE FINALS LONDON, July 4. In a brilliant display which thrilled the centre court crowd, Miss Brough beat her Wightman Cup colleague, Miss Osborne and will meet Miss Betz in the final of the Women’s Singles. Miss Osborne and Miss Brough, seeded Nos. 2 ana 3 respectively, have fought many close matches this season, but this was the first time Miss Brough gained the upper hand. Miss Betz had an easy win over another American, Miss Bundy. The Australians, Geoff. Brown and Pails comfortably defeated the Jugoslavs, Mitic and Pallada, in a colourless matcli tc enter the final of the Men’s Doubles. The Americans, Kramer and Tom Brown, also had an easy win in the other semi-final of the Men’s Doubles.

The youngest Australian ever to contest the final of the Men’s Singles at Wimbledon, 22-year-old Geoff. Brown, is given a second-to-none chance of carrying off the coveted Wimbledon crown. Brown, if he wins, will not be the youngest world champion, nowever, for the Americans, Vines, Budge, and Riggs, all won at 21. Brown, in i-eaching the finals of the Men’s Singles Men’s Doubles, and the semi-finals of the Mixed Doubles, has so tai won every one of the 41 sets played. Ilis opponent in the Singles final, Yvon Petra, 34 years of age and 6ft 4in in height, hopes to be the first Frenchman to take the title since Cochet won jn 1929. In spite of two years in a German prisoner of war camp, Petra possesses great stamina and fierce courage, and never gives up. To-day results were as follows: WOMEN’S SINGLES Semi-finals Miss Betz beat Miss Bundy 6—2, 6 Miss Brough beat Miss Osborne B—6, 7 MEN’S DOUBLES Semi-finals Pails and Geoff. Brown beat Mitic and Pallada 6 —2, 6—4, 6—3. Kramei and Tom Brown beat Segura and Patty 6—2, 6—3, 6—3. MIXED DOUBLES Quarter-finals Geoff. Brown and Miss Bundy beat Butler and Miss Bostock 6—3, 6—3. Hopman and Miss Osborne beat Motram and Miss Hilton 6—2, 6—2. Tom Brown and Miss Brough beat Paish and Miss Dace 6—3, 6—2. Patty and Miss Betz beat Pails and Miss Menzies 6—4, 7—5.
