WAGES IN FRANCE
FIFTEEN PER CENT. INCREASE avoidincTlnflation (Rec. 9 p.m.) PARIS, July 4. The Prime Minister, M. Bidault, told a conference of trade union chiefs, employers, Government representatives, and mayors that 15 per cent, was the maximum wage increase which could
be given to workers without causing inflation (the French Trade Union Congress had reiterated the demand for a 25 per cent, increase). M. Bidault said: “ France must inaugurate an economy based on the distribution of goods rather than accumulation of profits.”
