WOMEN’S CLUB

The musical circle of the North Otago Women’s Club held its monthly meeting recently, when the programme, taken from the music cf Schubert, was arranged by Mrs Howard Jones. Miss Will extended a welcome to those present. The programme was as follows: —Songs—Mesdames Power, H. Jones, K. Familton, Misses M. Will and D. Williams; piano solos, Miss E. McQuade; piano duets—Misses K. Cartwright and E. V. Thomson, Miss Cartwright and Mrs Walsh. Mrs Jones read interesting extracts from the life of Schubert, and as an interlude Mrs Wylie recited two poems, “ Lorenza’s Eulogy of Music,” by Shakespeare, and " Light,” by F. W. Bourdillion. Mrs Jones thanked Miss Cartwright for her work in connection with the programme, and Mrs Stubbs proposed a vote of thanks to all who had assisted in it.
