POWER BOARD FUNCTION
MEMBERS OF STAFF WELCOMED On Thursday night a large attendance of board members and staff of the Wattaki Electric Power Board met to welcome home members of the staff who had recently returned from overseas service, servicemen and women who had recently joined the staff, home servicemen, and English bridss. Messrs A. R. Tait (chairman of the board) and N. A. Davidson (engineer) extended a welcome to the guests, and Mr G. M. Robertson replied.
A welcome was also extended to Mr R B. Meek, who had been appointed to fill the vacancy on the board caused by the death of Mr E. S. Brewster. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr F. Butler and his assistants for the work they had done in arrahging the evening, which was an outstanding success.. The following were the guests:—Messrs G. M. Robertson, E. Finlinson, L. R. Webb, F. Cockburn, N. Rawson, A. V. Crocker, I. Smith (returned from overseas), Mrs G. M. Robertson, Messrs A. Watson, L. McNally. R. Park. F. McKone, W. R. Hill. P. Harney, J. Turvey, J. Belcher, J. Stewart (servicemen and women who had recently joined the staff), Messrs C. F. Jones, R. Meikle, V. H. Baker, V. Thwaites, D. Kennedy, W. Currie, Malcolm Baker (home servicemen), Mesdames N. Rawson and G. M. Robertson (English brides). Items were presented by Messrs M. Knight, G. Martyn, H. Boyer, A. Crocker (string quartet), and Mr H. Boyer (violin solo). Mrs Boyer was the accompanist Dance music was supplied by Jack Crump’s Dance Band, and Mr F. Butler, was M.C.
