OBITUARY

MR J. T. NIMMO Mr John Nimmo, who died suddenly at his home in Allanton last Saturday, was the second son of Mr and Mrs J T. Nimmo, late of "Keith Hall, Mosgiel. He was born at “ The Grange, East Taieri, and attended school there. On leaving school he commenced work on his father’s farm. At the age of 19 he left New Zealand for the Great War with the Canterbury Mounted Rifles. He served in the Egyptian theatre, and was stationed m the Jordan Valley. After the war he became a partner in “ Rocklands ” sheep station, where he carried on sheep farming ever since. Of a quiet, unassuming nature, he was popular with all with whom he came in contact, and he will be greatly missed by a wide circle of friends. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Misses Nessie and Nan Nimmo, of Allanton.

FATHER M. COLLINS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 5. Advice has been received in Wellington of the death at Brisbane yesterday, at the age of 75, of the Rev. Father, Michael Collins, formerly well known in New Zealand as a Redemptorist Missionary Father. During his 12 years in the Dominion Father Collins was rector for six years at St. Gerard’s Monastery, Wellington. He took an important part in the building of the new monastery, opened in 1932.

MR F. E. STEVENSON

(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, July 5. The death has occurred of Mr Frederick E. Stevenson, former secretary of the Southland Education Board, and a prominent bowler, aged 72. He is survived by his widow and a grownup family.
