TYRE RETREADS

SHORTAGE OF MATERIALS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 12. In spite of optimistic statements made towards the end of last month by retreaders and by the Minister of Supply, Mr D. G. Sullivan, the restrictions on the recapping and retreading of tyres may continue for many weeks. Camelback, which is composed largely of rubber, carbon black, and fabric, and is used for recaps and retreads, js extremely scarce, and many retreaders cannot get all the caffielback’they are allowed at present under their allocation.
