Owaka Valley.—The roll call was “A serving hint.” The competitions resulted: Crochet edge. Miss Roger 1, Mrs Morris and Miss Knox (equal) 2; patchwork, Mrs Bradfield 1. It was decided to send a food parcel to Britain. Waianakarua.—Mrs Smeddles presided. The motto was ” To have a friend you must be one,” and the roll call, “ Your favourite vegetable.” The hostesses were Mrs McKerrow. The social half-hour was conducted by Mrs Smeddles. Oamaru. —Mrs Shaw presided. Miss Grant gave an interesting address on her furlough in England. The flower competition resulted: —Miss Lee 1, Mrs Cornick 2, Mrs Davie 3. The hostesses were Miss Fraser and Mesdames Alexander and Brown.

Waikoikoi.—Mrs W. J. McKenzie presided. The roll call was “A verse of poetry composed by members.” The competitions resulted: —Heaviest potato—Miss C. McColl 1, Miss D. Bruce 2, Miss E Crawford 3; newspaper cuttings—Mrs Davis 1, Misses J. Crawford and J. Lindsay (equal) 2. Weston.—Mrs Tate presided at the fourteenth birthday. Floral sprays, made by Mrs Wates, were presented to the presidents of various branches. The afternoon was spent in competitions, which were won by the following:—Knitting, Mrs W Gibson; bean race, A Team; lucky cup. Mrs Lawrence; lucky seat. Miss B. Ayson. Items were contributed by Mesdames Bowman, Fraser, Maries, Beatty, and Coe. The birthday cake, made by Miss Allen and iced by Miss N. Gemmell, Was cut by Mrs Tate. Mrs Durward spoke on various subjects of interest.
