Mrs Mabel Findlay is on holiday in Auckland.
Mr and Mrs Arthur Nicol, of Ashburton, are visiting Dunedin. Mr and Mrs W. Cunningham, of “ Castle Downs,” are on holiday in Dunedin. Dr and Mrs W. H. Brockett, of Timaru, are the guests of Mrs R. J. Kilroy, of Kilgour street. Mrs R. S. Thompson, who nas been on holiday in Dunedin, has returned to her home at Wetherstones.
Mr and Mrs H. D. Angus, of Balclutha, were the guests of Mr and Mrs I. S. Cantrell, of Montpellier street, during the week-end. The speaker at the Travel Club to-mor-row morning will be Miss M. A. Black, whose subject will be " Experiences While Overseas.” Mrs N. F. Edmond entertained about 30 guests at her home, “ Mount Lodge,” last night, in honour of her grand-daughter, Miss Alice Mary McKellar, who recently made her debut at th 9 St. Hilda's College ball. The rooms were beautifully arranged with hydrangeas, chrysanthemums and lilies. The Piaybox Studio was en fete on Saturday last when Mr Russell Wood entertained over 70 guests at an enjoyable dance. The room was candle-lit and decorated with beautuul chrysanthemums from the garden of Mr Percy Vallange. The guests of honour -were Misses lvlargaretta Heime and Reicky Hoving, visitors from Java. Assisting the host in entertaining were Miss Mary Martin. Miss Sybil Henderson, Miss Mallory Boyd, Messrs Renfrew Harris, Reginald Tapley, Roland' Watson and- F. Martin.
A grand victory ball was held at Maclennans on the night of Friday. June 7. The hall, which was tastefully decorated tor the occasion, was filled to capactiy and the music was supplied by the Golden Dawn Orchestra. A lucky spot waltz was won by Miss Thort McTainsh and Mr W. Shead, while the onestep W’as won by Mrs J. Wright and Mr G. Gibbs. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr W. K. Goodsir. During the interval Mr R. W. Lawson, chairman of the Patriotic Committee, gave a brief resume of the work of the committee during the past six years, mentioning that the sum of £550 had been sent to patriotic funds and £282 to the Soldiers' Farewell Fund.
In honour of Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park and Lady Park, Mr and Mrs R. S. Thompson, of Wetherstones. entertained friends at a 5 o'clock party at Wain’s Hotel on Saturday. The guests included Sir James and Lady Hutchison, Dr and Mrs Roland Fulton, Mr and Mrs Edgar Hazlett, Mr and Mrs Stewart Macpherson, Mr and Mrs S. P. Cameron, Mr and Mrs I. S. Cantrell. Mr and Mrs A. H. Fisher, Mr and Mrs Hugh Carswell, Mr and Mrs H. W. Bundle, Mr and Mrs R. G. Sinclair, Mr and Mrs J. S. Monro, Mr and Mrs Douglas Ramsay, Mr and Mrs Garth Gallaway, Mr and Mrs G. R. Ritchie, Mr and Mrs A. N. Haggitt, Mr and Mrs A M. Cameron,,Mr and Mrs Allen Gray, Mr and Mrs A. D. Angus (Balclutha), Mr and Mrs J. G.
