COMBAT CONDITIONS
TESTS IN ARCTIC AREA WASHINGTON, June 9.
Emphasising the army’s interest in the Arctic area, 4500 troops next winter will test tanks, self-propelled guns, radar, clothing, and stores under all possible winter combat conditions. One group yyill operate for seven months from October 1 from Fairbanks (Alaska), where temperatures 66deg. below zero are recorded. A second group will be based on Adak, in the Aleutians. ,
