INQUESTS ADJOURNED
DEATH OF STUDENT An inquest was held yesterday morning by Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., sitting as coroner, into the death of Ivan Comrie Shanks, a second-year dental student, residing at Knox College, who died in the Public Hospital on Sunday night, apparently as the result of taking some form of corrosive sublimate, mistaking it for a laxative. Evidence of identification was given by John Comrie Campbell Shanks, father of the deceased. He said that his son had been on vacation, and, feeling out of sorts, had taken what he thought was a laxative. He had been admitted to the Hospital on June § The coroner said that there was some question as to there having been a mistake in making a purchase from a firm. He ordered a post-mortem to be performed, and adjourned the inquest sine die. The adjourned inquest into the death of Hugh Bennett, aged about 54 years, a painter employed by the Love Construction Company, Ltd., whose home was at 1 Marion street, Caversham, was resumed yesterday morning before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., sitting as coroner. On the application of Mr A. N. Haggitt, who appeared for the company, the inquest was further adjourned to June 17.
