WORKING UNDERGROUND
NAZI ORGANISATIONS CLEVERLY CONCEALED (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, Apl. 1. The British military authorities in Germany cannot guarantee that another bid to restore the Nazi regime may not come at any time, says the Frankfurt correspondent of the Daily Mail. “Although one highly organised plot has been smashed,” he continues. “ other and more cleverly concealed organisations may still be at work. Many thousands of former high S.S. officers and intelligence officers remain untraced and at liberty in the British zone under assumed names. These are regarded as the natural source of regrowth of the party. Numbers of morally defeated former prisoners are now returning from British and Canadian camps, and they are also a potential danger. Brigadier-general Sibert announced in Frankfurt that the British and American round-up yesterday was completely successful. He denied that the Allies used armoured forces or encountered any heavy opposition. The only shot fired was to blow off the lock of a door in order to force entry to a house in which a suspect was hiding.
