LIFE MEMBERSHIP

HONOUR BESTOWED BY R.S.A. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Apl. 1. The gold badge of life membership of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association was presented to Admiral the Lord Louis Mountbatten by the Dominion vice-president, Mr C. O. Bell, at the Wellington R.S.A. this afternoon. Lady Louis Mountbatten was present. There have been only 22 such awards in the association’s 30 years of existence, among the holders being the present King, the Duke of Windsor, the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newali, and the Governor-General designate. Lieutenant-general Sir Bernard Freyberg. The honour is conferred for outstanding service to the Empire, New Zealand, or the R.S.A.
